A very soothing 23/10/2016

It was a beautiful and soothing autumn morning with the sun at my favourite angle which brings colours out of the surroundings and the shadows giving depth to everything.

Or maybe it was me getting all sentimental and reflective as first thing in the morning we were picking up donated garden items from a gentleman who passed away. It was just trays and horticultural gravel, some tools but at the same time we were allowed into his private space which he obviously cherished. Finding a few DIY tricks he developed over the years which were unique to this place and needs made me feel as if the garden was left by him only yesterday and he would be ready to start up his gardening up again in a few hours time.

We took the bits  and pieces to the plot with Jodi and set them up in the greenhouse. They will be very helpful with the propagation of plants.

Next was time for some pottering about with organising of the greenhouse which Jodi did a smashing job of and Susan took on the compost by watering it and feeding with the used coffee ground. Then she moved on to tackle the strawberry runners and for doing it the first time she was very efficient with over 20 plants ready for next years planting.

Jim continues with the plot dig over crusade and took off the doors from the new shed for us to fix them back straight so we have another space to sit in case there is some rain.

We welcomed Jane from SEEOG and shared food and some bubbly to celebrate our community work. Eileen who donated items to us in the past visited as well. It was great to catch up with a friend.

On leaving I noticed a great example of vines of all sorts utilising normally wasted space. Nothing wrong in stealing ideas like this one.
